Contents An achievement that deserves mention. When one talks about the achievements of a 23 year old girl, it’s usually her educational successes that cascades the context. But in the case of KP Sheeba, there is a difference. One cannot just ignore her success in education for sure, but she has transformed, instead molded herself to adorn the role of a panchayath president. The difference is spotted not only in her attitude but her dressing too. At the young age of 22, while undergoing college education, she was handed over the responsibility to look after a panchayath. She is the president of Kayanna Panchayath. Criticisms did arrow in her, for many doubted her ability to overcome the attack of opposition and her lack of experience to handle the activities of the panchayath. But she answered the criticisms with the developmental activities in this panchayath. Sheeba was born and brought up at Manathawadi in Wayanad district. She came to Kayanna, her mother’s birth place for her plus two education. In a very short span she became friendly with all the people and was entrusted the duty to lead the panchayath. She had the courage to speak out her opinion in front of the public, the one quality among many that she possessed which helped her to climb up the ladder. She had to face some difficulties initially, due to the lack of experience. She initiated many developmental activities in her panchayath and was successful in implementing it as well. Being a woman she could address their problems as well. Health facilities for females were stepped up. Under her leadership, this panchayath earned the reputation of creating the maximum number of work days as part of the national employment guarantee scheme.
