Kerala Women's Commission Chairperson, K C Rosakutty has appealed and asked Panchayat – Level Jagratha Samithis across the state to turn more active aiming better protection to women and children . She was addressing in a three –day workshop programme based on Women Security – Family Security :Jagritha Smaithis for Social Security organised by Santhigram and Grama Panchayat development council at Poovar. She said the women’s commission is not just a mechanism for dealing with atrocities against women and children.
She also added that Panchayat Jagratha Samithis should come forward and become more active to prevent atrocities . By doing this , Commission can make use of the services of Santhigram for strengthening the activities of the Jagratha Samithis from single ward to Panchayat Level .
Grama Panchayat President Latha Pushpangadan presided over the function. ICDS Supervisor VR Sivapriya , Santhigram Director LPankajakshan , Joint Director G.S Santhamma and Panchayat member Anto Marcelene were also present in the occasion .
