News Title Rehabilitation programme of released prisoners inaugurated
News Contents As part of the fourth anniversary celebration of the LDF ministry the govt. has initiated yet another welfare programme, this time for the rehabilitation of the released prisoners. Home minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan inaugurated the function here in Trivandrum. “Its not only the victim that is affected but two families as well. One that of the victim and the other the person who committed the crime. In order to help the persons who have completed their term in jail, the govt. has initiated such a project s that they could start a new life by finding self employment”, said Kodiyeri Balakrishnan. He hoped that this would become a model project in India. Smt PK Sreemathy Teacher presided over the function and said that for the rehabilitation of the released prisoners the govt has increased the amount from 25 lakhs to 100 lakhs. Home minister distributed the amount of 10,000 to selected prisoners who completed their term. Mayor Sree Jayan Babu was the chief guest of the occasion. MLA Sivankutty, Dr Alexander Jacob IPS, Dr Usha Titus, Secratery Social Welfare were also present. PP Gopi IAS welcomed the gathering while Sasthamangalam Mohanan delivered the vote of thanks.
