News Title Govt. initiates financial support to the children of prisoners
News Contents There are many persons imprisoned, some for known reasons and others for unknown reasons. Once they are lodged in jail it’s their families that are suffering the most. They get ostracized from the society. Due to the lack of money their children might be denied education at a very early age itself. This might have huge repercussions later. The way may be paved for new criminals to be born in society. Therefore the govt. has initiated such a project that aims at bringing these people to the main stream of the society. Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan was speaking while inaugurating at the function organized by the Social Welfare Department as part of the fourth year celebration of govt. The new project provides financial support to the children of the prisoners for their education. An amount of Rs 500 will be given to children up to 10th standard a month and 1000 a month for the children from plus two onwards to pursue their education. Health Minister Sreemathy Teacher was also present at the occasion. The grant was distributed to several children. MLA Sivankutty , Usha Titus IAS, P P Gopi IAS were the others present
